Charleston Charm

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013 | City Guide

If you’re wishing for a bit of Southern hospitality, look no further than the city of Charleston, South Carolina. A bustling coastal town, the city’s center is easily walkable and full of many shops, sights, and yummy eats. But don’t lace up your old walking shoes just yet; you’ll want to make sure you keep up with the stylish ladies as you stroll down King St, so grab those Tory flats and Marc Jacobs bag instead.

Escape the heat with a dip in the pool

Stay: At Market Pavilion.
Located at the end of the vendor-laden Market street, this beautiful hotel is a mix of southern charm and updated glamour. Toast to a sweet weekend as you take in views of the city from the stunning rooftop bar. After you purchase souvenirs & gifts from the many stalls and shops on the street below, rest your head in a gorgeous four poster bed.

Central stools, bright decor encourage communal dining & drinking at Rarebit

Eat
With the menu of an upscale diner, and a dash of hipster in the vibe, Rarebit is the perfect spot to indulge after all that walking and shopping. Comfort food dominates the menu, so don’t feel guilty ordering the pulled pork sandwich or delicious patty melt (with a side of garlicky mac & cheese for the table to share of course).

If you aren’t in the mood for barbeque, enjoy the fruits of this waterfront town’s bounty at The Ordinary. A full raw bar features East Coast Oysters, NC Blue Crab Louie , and Maine Lobster Ceviche. But their famed lobster roll is the big draw; just make sure you call ahead, their full menu isn’t available between lunch & dinner service.

If you have a sweet tooth…look no further than every few doors on King St. or Market. You’ll hear calls of “Free Samples!” that will draw you into the surgary smelling shops and have you leaving with a bag (or three) of yummy pralines.

Shop: Explore Charleston’s famous King St. for big store favorites and unique finds.

Tailgate rock stars, Willy Jays is for you. Whether you’re looking for a brightly patterned sundress or a cheeky “Love me like you love football season” tank, this boutique will have you lookin’ like a Carolina girl, without breaking the bank.

High style in a low key venue, Hampden clothing boutique has all your essentials to be ahead of the style curve. We were dying over their beautiful leather jackets and soft knits (literally dying because it was 80 degrees outside and we still insisted on trying these Fall favorites on!)

My Southern heart be still; if you are in need of yet another monogrammed necklace (because three just isn’t enough) Moon & Lola will put your name or initials on just about anything. Pick up a copy of “A Privileged Life” add one glass of sweet tea and no one would ever believe you’re from above the Mason-Dixon.

Charleston has lots to offer and is a great day trip if you’re coming from a relaxing resort stay on the coast. Contact Stiletto Escape to start planning your South Carolina getaway today!
