City Guide: Washington D.C.
Fall is the perfect time to escape to Washington D.C.- the weather is fantastic, the foliage is beautiful, and there are endless things to do. Recently I spent some time in D.C. visiting a girlfriend, hitting up museums, monuments, and soaking in the night life.
Play: I stayed near Capitol Hill, which was close to both public transit and bike share. I highly recommend cruising from monument to museum on a bike. You get to sight-see and burn some calories all at once! If you are going to check out Arlington Cemetery, go early in the morning to avoid the crowds. I also recommend checking out Eastern Market. You can get everything from funky jewelry to local specialty cheese all in one place.
Eat & Drink: For breakfast/brunch, you cannot go wrong with Ted’s Bulletin. Enjoy the homemade pop tarts, in flavors like strawberry and salted caramel. For dinner, Founding Farmers is a great restaurant. Make sure you order the skillet corn bread with sea salted honey butter, it is amazing. After dinner head to The Gibson or POV to grab a few drinks.
Stay: I’m obsessed with Airbnb these days because me and the girls like to make our own breakfast some days, and we feel like we have more space to stretch out and make ourselves at home (i.e. we have more space for all our suitcases and clothes ;). But if you choose to go the hotel route, I’m in love with the W Hotel because of it’s perfect location, modern decor, and rooftop bar.
