City Guide: Los Angeles

In front of The Huntley hotel in Santa Monica

I admit it. I wasn’t sold on LA as a vacation destination. I feared the traffic, stereo-typical natives, and the traffic. I now stand corrected. LA is awesome! Traffic wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought, we stayed in a centrally located hotel allowing us to get around easily, and although cabs were pricier than I am used to in other big cities- split by 3 girls- it was fine. LA has the food, shopping, nightlife, and weather, that blend together for a great getaway!

Eat.

Brunch at The Penthouse in The Huntley. Wow. As soon as I walked in I loved the decor. White, sharp, and modern. Seated at a booth with a view of the ocean and glass of champagne in my hand, I thought, “Now THIS is brunch.” Get the french toast with a caramelized banana dipped in rum on top.

Brunch at Taste on Melrose Bottomless mimosas for $15. (I really don’t even need to go on.) Slamming back mimosas sitting at a table next to Vivica Fox pretty much sealed the deal for me having a great time in LA.

The Little Door

Dinner at The Little Door. One of the top 10 prettiest restaurants I’ve ever been to. You enter through a little door (obvi.) and it’s like you’re whisked away to a secret garden in France with white lights dripping from tree branches. Food was delicious. They also have a little brasserie attached, called The Little Next Door, which was charming and cute!

Dining Room at Cleo

Cocktails!

Dinner at Cleo. Now this is a fun place! Perfect for starting a night out on the town. Lively bar scene with great craft cocktails. AH.MA.ZING pork belly dish. Oh, and brussels sprouts, and lamb, and octopus, and you get it. It’s good.

Play.

Burke Williams Spa **Squeels of delight** as I write this!! Go. just go here. Take your mom, sister, bffff, just go. For the price of one treatment you can lounge in their amenitities all day! We sat in the jacuzzi, sauna, steam room; while nibbling on fresh fruit and smoothies (included!). Then we got amazing massages and after got dolled up in their adorable sitting area. They even provide every hair product/clean brushes/hot tool you could want!

Greystone Manor Nightclub Well after a day of spa-ing, shopping and eating, we decided to hit the club. While the drinks are expensive (think $15 and up), the music was amazing. The D-floor is a little tight so make sure you’re ready to mark your territory. (Read: throw elbows.)

Stay.

Andaz Rooftop

Andaz West Hollywood Love Andaz WeHo!! When you walk in you’re greeted with a glass of wine by the friendliest hotel staff I’ve encountered in a while. This centrally located hotel has great rooms with floor-to-ceiling window views of Sunset Blvd. You HAVE to lounge at their rooftop pool, where cabanas are free, but first-come-first-serve. Breathtaking views of all of LA.

Our room at the Andaz

It was overall an amazing girls’ weekend! Even down to the ride in the firetruck….but that’s a story for another day ;)
