What’s Hot this Weekend: 4th of July

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013 | What's Hot this Weekend

There is something magical about watching fireworks on a warm summer night, that is why I love the 4th of July. Independence Day weekend also means food, friends, family, and fashion. Allow us to help you make this weekend memorable by providing you with the best in fireworks shows, fashion, and food.

What is the 4th without a good fireworks show? Here are some of the top fireworks shows in the country.

Macy’s fireworks show in NYC

Macy’s will be hosting the biggest fireworks show is in the county in NYC. Join Mariah Carey, hubby Nick Cannon, Taylor Swift, and Tim McGraw to name a few on the Hudson River to watch over 40,000 fireworks light up the sky. Bonus, the sure to be spectacular show will be synchronized to a musical score by Usher.

Nashville brings fireworks and country music together. Live performances include music from the Band Perry, Keb’ Mo’, and the Nashville Symphony. There will be over 10 hours of free music in total! More info can be found here.

A fireworks show with the Sierra Nevada mountains and Lake Tahoe as the backdrop is nothing less than stunning. Red, White, and Tahoe Blue starts on July 3rd and ends July 6th. Highlights include an 80′s cover band, an outdoor BBQ and carnival, and a wine & cheese tasting.

What to wear is all in the accessories, here are some to make your look more patriotic.

American Apparel-Floppy Summer Hat

Love this hat from American Apparel. My fav is the red, but they have blue and white as well. This is a great way to beat the heat in style.

Remember, it may be sweltering all day, but it can get quite chilly by the time that fireworks show starts. I always like to have something lightweight to throw on. Old Navy has a wide assortment of hoodies, cardigans, and scarfs, so you are sure to find the perfect red, white, or blue coverup to keep you warm into the night.

Do not forget to wear your sunglasses! If you are on the lookout for a new pair, a nice pair of Raybans are always hip. If your style is more classic, go Audrey Hepburn with Chanel.

Whether you are hosting a BBQ or attending one, everyone needs some fresh ideas on what to make. Let your inner Martha Stewart out with these fun recipes.

Cupcake Cake

We have all seen a 4th of July cake, but what about cupcakes? Makes it easier to serve and they can be arranged to look like a cake. Here is a recipe.

Another not so traditional option is a dessert pizza. Topped with fresh fruit and made with Greek yogurt, this is a great “healthier” option. And with all the eating I will be doing this weekend, a healthyish dessert may not be such a bad idea.

This post would not be complete without a cool beverage. The Refreshing Raspberry Star Spangled Spritzer by the blogger Chickettes looks amazing.

Happy 4th of July!

That dessert pizza looks fresh and light! I will most def try it out, as well as the Star Spangled Spritzer! I can’t wait to relax in the sun (I’ll be sure to wear a floppy summer hat) and then watch the fireworks with my sister. Have a great 4th! :)
    Thanks Stiletto Escape!
