What’s Hot this Weekend: Food Festivals
Where and what to eat is an essential part of any trip, so why not make it the center of your trip by attending a food festival this summer! Traveling to attend a food festival is great way to get to know a new city and the best cuisine it has to offer all at once.
The name says it all, FEASTival. Located in Philly, this food festival serves the best food and booze and does not skimp on portion size. Because the proceeds go to the local arts community, your taste buds will not be the only sense you indulge at this food festival. Performances include a circus display, dancers, and a live painting. Art, top notch booze and food, can life get any better??
New England is synonymous with seafood, so it is only natural Maine has the best lobster festival in the country. The Maine Lobster Festival will serve up hot and fresh lobster, but also feast on sides like cole slaw and sweet corn. The festival runs July 31- August 4th this year. Before leaving, check out one of the many nearby light houses and hit up main street for a couple of hours of shopping.
Featuring local chefs, beer, and wine, the Bite of Oregon will not disappoint. Local farmer, ranchers, and fisherman will have their produce available for tasting at the Oregon Bounty Chef’s Table. Into mixed drinks? Like Iron Chef? Then Iron Mixologist is calling your name. The Iron Chef style drink mixing competition is a must if you attend.
Good street food vendors are the hidden gems of a city, and all too often, only locals are privy to the best of them. Make yourself an insider by attending the San Francisco Street Food Festival on August 17th. The event is free and the food is cheap. With over 100 participants, there will be something new to try and fall in love with, and all without breaking the bank!
Time to hit the gym to prepare for all of my upcoming eating!
