What’s Hot this Weekend: Lending a Helping Hand

Friday, April 19th, 2013 | What's Hot this Weekend

This week has been one marked by tragic events in Boston and West, Texas. The loss of life and devastation caused by both of these events have left many full of sorrow. We cannot take back the lives that have been lost, but we can help to piece together the lives of those who are still with us. Each one of us can make a difference by lending a helping hand.

Donate Blood

The American Red Cross supplies approximately 40 percent of the nation’s blood supply. Currently, there is an adequate blood supply in Boston, but more blood is needed in West. To find out where to make a blood donation, click here.

Donate Money

There are many organizations that have been mobilizing to help in both Boston and West. Monetary support can help these organizations continue to do the good work they are currently doing.

The American Red Cross – Donations can be made by text message. Text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10.00.

The Salvation Army – The Salvation Army is providing food, counseling, warm clothes, and blankets in both Boston and West. To make a donation click here

Limbs For Life – In a bombing or explosion, victims can be left without a limb or limbs. Limbs For Life provides prosthetic care for those who cannot afford it. To make a donation, click here.

Donate Time

If you are in the Boston or West areas, the Red Cross is looking for volunteers. Volunteers are 94% of the humanitarian work force for the Red Cross. This makes volunteers invaluable in helping when a tragedy occurs. To learn more about how to become a volunteer, click here.

Bring hope to the lives of those affected by making a donation. Even the smallest donation can make a great difference in the life of a victim.
