What’s Hot this Weekend: Dine About Town

Friday, April 26th, 2013 | What's Hot this Weekend

One of the best things about traveling is trying new restaurants. Food is a great way to explore new cultures. Eating out is also a great way to catch up with girlfriends. Yes, bars and clubs are fun, but conversation over tasty cuisine and wine makes for an amazing night out.

This week is restaurant week in many cities around the United States. Local restaurant weeks are a great way to try new places and gain some new favorites. The best thing about restaurant week is that it is an opportunity to try a new place on the cheap. Many times the prix fixe menus are at a fraction of the regular price, making these meals out wallet friendly.

Quattro, Miami

Miami is celebrating the best of Italian eateries. EATalian kicks off today and goes thru Sunday. Some of the choices are Quattro, which features Northern Italian cuisine and an upscale vibe, Dei Frescobaldi, which has an outdoor patio and a wine bar, and Toscana Divino, which offers Sunday brunch and Italian beer.

Chef whippin up something yummy at Austin's Food & Wine Festival

Austin is having their infamous FOOD & WINE festival. With 50+ Master Chefs, 40 culinary demos, 2 VIP after-hours parties this event is going to be great! Want to bump into Andrew Zimmern? Want to attend “Rock Your Taco Showdown” or “Sexy Leftovers” demo? (Yeaaaa, so do we.) If you’re still hungry after a day of sips and bites, after-hours on Saturday the place to be is Trace (inside the W Austin). They’re hosting “Sel Et Gras: Morsels from the Bistros of Paris” from 9pm – 12am, and offering Austin Food & Wine guests a special discount. Le menu includes Pâté de Campagne, Beef Tartare, Duck Bacon, Rillettes, Éclairs, Macarons and more. Reservation details: http://afwf.co/104H67g

Moules, Aperitif Bistro

Long Island is having a great restaurant week. Leave behind the crowds in Manhattan and taste your way through Long Island. Aperitif Bistro offers many French staples, such as, moules et frites, tuna tartar, and poulet roti. Brings me back to Paris just thinking about it, yum. Las Vinas is a Peruvian restaurant offering tapas, so come prepared to share. The restaurant has an intimate feel, making it a great place to take a small group to chat, eat, and drink before a night on the town. Mint, an Indian restaurant with a gorgeous outdoor eating area, love it. This upscale and club like restaurant has traditional dishes like Tandoori Chicken, but also offers a Desi Green Salad with Cucumber, Tomato, Onions, Lemon, Chaat Masala.

Gather a couple of girlfriends and discover a new restaurant or food festival this weekend!
